games – the new school?
Just read Clive Thompson’s latest Wired piece. Brilliant. love it.
Makes me think.
Schools where never about the explicit knowledge they claimed to teach, be it Latin or differential equations. They were about maintaining social order. Teaching you to take your proper place in society. Could it be that games are taking this role? And that the fight about game content & form is a fight about social structure, just like the power struggles between education providers (e.g. church vs. state)?
