  1. I think it’s great that there are people in Israel who call for peaceful coexistence between different religious/ethnic communities. My question is, however, do you think it is possible for all communities to be treated equally while Israel is a Jewish state? I hope you don’t find this question too provocative as I would simply like to read your take on this.

  2. There’s a differnece between ‘Jewish state’ and ‘State of the Jews’. There are some who call for the re-definition of the state as ‘A state of all its citizens’. As trivial as this may sound to an outsider, this suggestion is viewed by many as highly provocative.

    Others, and I belive this is the Abraham Fund’s position, call for a redefinition of the state as ‘The state of the Jews and all its citizens’, meaning that the state of Israel is a santuary for all Jews, but treats all its citizens equaly.

    The equal rights of all citizens are founded in the statement of independence, and confirmed in the legal infrustructure, but they are not always upheld in practice.
