A collective of some of Israel’s best Dub artists is leading a campaign against the deportation of children of African workers. True to their art, they are collecting donations and raising awareness through a series of concerts. Contact: grooverefuge@gmail.com

Menu for Hope III

leave a comment »

Pim does it again:

Every year, Food Bloggers from all over the world get together for a fundraising campaign. We call it ‘Menu for Hope’. Last year, we raised $17,000 to help UNICEF. This year, Menu for Hope III raises funds to support the UN World Food Programme, which provides hunger relief for needy people worldwide.

Its a raffle, with $10 a ticket and a long list of amazing foodie prizes. Sure beats the school hamper!

The creator of playsh has a message for wired and shlashdot readers:

playsh is so totally a prototype right now. It’s a buggy bundle of Python code that, by default, opens interfaces to your computer and makes it insecure. Players can interfere with each other’s objects. And so on. This is a proper prototype – one to test the interaction design and the concept – rather than the “we only call it beta to cut down on support costs” kind of prototype. The code was good enough for me to get to a rough demo, and includes a ton of bugs where verbs got broken while I was hacking on the plane (notably: dig). It was also good enough for me to figure out what I did and didn’t like about the way verbs bind to objects.

I love these guys. Make me feel like hacking the printer.
